Town Police: Hampton Bays Man Two Times Legal Limit

Southampton Town Police arrest reports from the past week.

• Hans Escobar-Cortave, 22, of Westhampton, was arrested on May 30 and charged with DWAI drugs, a misdemeanor. Police pulled Escobar-Cortave over around 10 a.m. for not wearing a seat belt, reports state, and was later found to be in possession of marijuana and driving under its influence. He was also cited for unlawful possession of marijuana and not wearing a seat belt.

• Jennifer Luster, 25, of Ridge, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and fourth degree, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, on June 2 around 1 a.m.  

According to police reports, an officer noticed Luster in a car idled on at the Beach Bar on Foster Avenue and upon approaching it, she reportedly attempted to shove bags in her handbag. Police reports state two sandwich bags of cocaine and marijuana were found in the front drivers’ seat, and upon investigation it was found that her license was suspended pending prosecution for a previous DWI. Police said another bag of cocaine was later found on her waistline.

• Juan Guzman, 35, of Hampton Bays, was arrested and charged with DWI after police said his blood alcohol level was over two times the legal limit. Police reports state that he was attempting to back up his car around 2:15 a.m. on June 2 on Shinnecock Road when police approached the car.  

Police reports state there were open cans of beer visible inside the car, and he was found to have an odor of alcohol on his breath. A breath test allegedly shoed his blood alcohol level to be 0.20. He was also cited for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.
