Fire Department Takes Next Step Toward New Firehouse

The new firehouse, which will replace the existing 63-year-old firehouse

The Westhampton Beach Fire Department is taking the next step in bringing a new firehouse to fruition.

According to the district's website, the district has been busy refining design plans and developing "a full set of construction specifications and bids will be received for the work to be done."

Additionally, the district is working on relocation plans for when construction commences. The district, stated in its website that it is looking at using its storage/maintenance building as headquarters during construction.

The new firehouse, which will replace the existing 63-year-old firehouse, comes after voters approved a $15 million bond for a new Westhampton Beach Fire house on June 4 in a 286-156 vote. Homeowners, with a home valued at $600,000 will be expected to pay between $80 to $115 per year through the life of the 20-year loan.
