Fire Department Puts Out Flames at Dune Deck

Chief John "Chip" Bancroft said no one was injured.

Two rooms at the Dune Deck on Dune Road went up in flames on Sunday, according to Westhampton Beach Fire Department Chief John “Chip” Bancroft.

Bancroft said his department was called to the scene at about 3:00 p.m and on arrival, they found two rooms in a structure near the motel's pool on fire.

Bancroft said the fire was put out quickly and no injures were reported — the rooms were empty when the fire started, he said.

The department was on scene for about an hour, due to overhaul work.

The ceilings in the rooms had to be knocked down, he said.

Also responding to the scene was the Westhampton Ambulance, the Eastport and East Quogue Fire Departments.

The Southampton Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
