Six Tips on Hot Tub Placement

  1. The View.  No not the day time talk show, the view from where you will be sitting.  Take a chair and put in where  you will be sitting in the hot tub.  Do you like the view?  Move the chair until you are happy with what you will be looking at from your new hot tub.
  2. Distance From the Door.  If you plan on using your hot tub in the colder months, we don’t recommend a long walk from the door to the tub.  Keep it close.  If you are only using the hot tub in the warmer months, go ahead and put it anywhere you have power.
  3. Your Neighbors.  You may love them or you may hate them, either way you don’t want to be watching them (them watching you) while you are enjoying your hot tub.  Place the tub so you will not be so exposed.  If that is going to be a problem, we want to recommend a privacy screen from Yardistry.
  4. Your Cover Lifter.  Yes you really do want a cover lifter to easily remove and secure your hot tub cover.  There are a few different styles to choose from based on the placement of your hot tub.  Again you don’t want that view blocked so how the cover comes off and is stored is important part of the hot tub placement.
  5. You Have to Have Power.  You will need a dedicated 220v 50amp outlet close to the placement of your hot tub.
  6. Hard Level Surface and a hose long enough to fill the tub.  It is not important to have a water source close to your hot tub as long as you have a long enough hose to fill the tub.  However, it is important to have a hard level surface to place your hot tub on.

Now for the Must Have’s for maximum enjoyment:

  • Shelter.  Yes you may want to block out the direct sun, or enjoy your hot tub in inclement weather so a pergola, spa shelter or umbrella is needed.
  • Stairs and Railing.  Getting in and out of your hot tub gracefully and safely is important too.
  • A Place for Your Beverage:  You will need a place to put your beverage, book, and snack.
  • Music and/or TV.  These are amazing to have built into the hot tub because the hot tub’s jets don’t interfere with the sound system.
