Westhampton Beach Farmers Market Sets Opening Date

The market will officially open for the season on May 11 with a vine cutting ceremony.

The popular Westhampton Beach Farmers Market is ready to open for the season, according to new market manager Barbara Riegger.

The Westhampton Chamber of Commerce-sponsored market will officially open on May 11 with a vine cutting ceremony scheduled for 9 a.m.

This season, the market, said Reigger, will feature over 45 Long island vendors, selling goods, including cheese, eggs, fish, chickens, vegetables, gourmet items, spice rubs and sauces, herbs and flowers.

Customers, said Reigger, will find a host of old favorites in the mix, as well as a number of new vendors, which she said she is awaiting confirmation on, but said those vendors include ones that sell stuff bread, yogurt and granola.

"The market will be full," said Reigger.

New this year will be a kids corner, located at the Chamber booth, where kids can plant seeds and learn more about local farming.

Once open, the market will serve customers every Saturday at 85 Mill Road from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through November 16.
