Looking for a unique toy for the kids this summer? Sandy toys in East Quogue has it - a 40-inch soccer ball.
"It's fun," said Kristen Montgomery, owner of the shop, as she attempted to maneuver the ball from behind her counter into her showroom. "It can be used like a babysitter-give the kids the ball and some sandwiches and they are good for a few hours."
Montgomery said the ball is new to her shop, which also features a variety of kids clothing items, jewelry, swimsuits, Christening gowns and popular mermaid skirts that can be worn in the water.
"I had dodge balls a few years back, but the company stopped making them," she said. "I've been trying to find a really well- made ball since."
So, she said when she found the giant balls, she knew she had to stock them.
The 40-inch ball sells for $65 and a smaller 20-inch ball retails for $25.
Sandy Toes is located at 485 Montauk Highway in East Quogue.
