Friends Hope to Make Noise With New Burger Joint

Boom Burger is serving up wings, burgers and more this summer.

BOOM!

A pair of Anthony’s are hoping locals – and non-locals alike – take a loud bite out of their new burger joint this season, as Boom Burgers rolls into its first summer on Montauk Highway in Westhampton Beach after opening its doors last fall.

Since the new business, owned by friends Anthony Catanzaro and Anthony Cicogna, opened last October, the duo have been creating burger combos weekly to surprise their customers – who are encouraged to give a loud “BOOM” when they walk through the doors, sometimes leading to free food.

This week's creation was a burger they named the slinky. Inside the bun is a fresh beef patty topped with cheese and a fried egg. Then, there was the Doom Burger, topped with mac and cheese and chili.

"We work 16 and 14-hour shifts and when we sit down at night, we come up with new combinations and names for our burgers," said Cicogna.

The pair said they started the business after working at another burger business and quickly became friends with a vision — open their own burger shop.

It wasn't long before they had the keys in their hand and got to work, creating a menu featuring their own sauces and all fresh ingredients, including vegetables from local farmstands.

Remembering back, Catanzaro said they didn't even have enough money to buy paint for the walls, so they decided to instead plaster the walls with comics.

But Catanzaro and Cicogna know it isn't what's on the walls that keep their customers coming back, it is their extensive menu that includes everything from the "Not Hungry Any More Man" breakfast platter, to 14 flavors of wings, to veggie burgers and wraps, to burgers, hot dogs and salads all made to order, as well as sides, including mac and cheese, onion rings, and sweet potato fries. Not to mention a dessert menu that features deep fried Oreos, Nutella sandwiches and milk shakes.

Catanzaro and Cicogna said their prices are also helping their business and they also hand out free food to whoever walks in and yells the “Boom phrase of the day,” which can be found by following Boom Burger on Facebook.

The pair also offer discounts to Westhampton Beach students on school days.

Boom Burgers is open Sunday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m and 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
