Cops: Substitute Teacher Had Sexual Relationship With Student

Update: The Hampton Bays School District has released a statement regarding the arrest of substitute teacher and coach Allan Concepcion for third-degree rape.

In the statement, Superintendent Lars Clemensen said the incident in which Concepcion is charged is not related to any student in the Hampton Bays School District and that it is believed to have been an isolated incident.

"The district has no complaints on record regarding this individual," wrote Clemensen. "The district is appalled and disturbed by these allegations and will cooperate, as necessary, with law enforcement authorities during their investigation."

Concepcion, said Clemensen, has been employed by the district since 2009 and passed all necessary background checks prior to be hired as an assistant coach of the Hampton Bays Middle School girls gymnastics team and as a substitute teacher and classroom aid.

Concepcion has been relieved of all of his duties at the school, pending adjudication.

Suffolk County police have arrested a Hampton Bays Middle School substitute teacher whom they say had a sexual encounter with a 16-year-old student earlier this year while working as a substitute teacher in a different school district.

Allan Concepcion, 38, of Mt. Sinai, was working at Eastport South Manor High School when the alleged incident took place. He was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with third-degree rape, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Concepcion, who is also the junior varsity volleyball coach at Eastport South Manor High School, is also employed as a substitute teacher and gymnastics coach at Hampton Bays Middle School.

Concepcion will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
