The tournament grew from 40 people and 4 teams last year to 120 players on 8 teams this year.

For the second summer in a row,  Jeffrey Sherman, a Quogue resident, has brought Quidditch, a game made popular by the Harry Potter series to his hometown.

The second annual tournament was held over the weekend at the VFW post, growing from 40 people and 4 teams last year to 120 players on 8 teams this year. With players coming from various area in the Northeast, the west coast and Ottawa, Canada

"I was really excited to see everyone come together at the VFW in Quogue and put their hearts out on the field," said Sherman, who is a
Quidditch player for the Rochester Institute of Technology.  "It constantly amazes me that these athletes will hit one another as hard as they can on the pitch but bond just as hard when the games are over."

This year's tournament ended with The Phoenix Army taking home the championship title.

"While they weren't the on paper favorites, it showed to everyone what I knew going in: the amount of talent was huge," said Sherman.
