In The Shops: Rainbow Loom, This Summer's Hottest Toy

Have you tried the Rainbow Loom yet? Find out where to get it locally.

A product, called the Rainbow Loom, is one of the hottest sellers for kids this summer, according to two Westhampton Beach shopkeepers, who say the toy is flying off the shelves.

The Rainbow loom, according to Alex Dank, owner of Mother Goose Toys, helps kids to weave colored and glow-in-the-dark rubber bands into colorful bracelet, ring and necklace creations.

And not only are kids getting in on the fun, said Dank, but so are parents and grandparents.

"No batteries, just pure and simple imagination and fun," he said. "Once you've mastered a basic bracelet, the doorway is open for many, many happy hours of creating your own unique intricate designs."

Dank said he was not surprised at how fast the Rainbow Loom has been selling: "It's really the hottest toy/craft of the summer," he said.

Owner of Baby Shock Elyse Richman, said she has found the same.

"Everyone is doing this, and all ages are wearing them from kids to proud grandparents wearing what their grandkids are making," she said.

Shock is selling the loom for $18 and has in stock carrying cases for supplies, as well as a bands in all colors.

Mother Goose Toys has the loom available for $17.99 and also stocks bands in all colors.
