Updated: Responders Rush to Flanders Car Crash

Three vehicles were involved in a chain reaction crash at a traffic light on Route 24.

Police and firefighters responded around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday evening to a three-car crash on Bellows Pond Road in Flanders. Responders on the scene said the cars crashed in a chain reaction at a traffic light. Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The Hampton Bays Fire Department was called to bring heavy rescue equipment to the scene.

Town Police Reviewing Street Crimes Cases

Southampton Town Police Chief William Wilson tells Newsday the investigation could affect inmates.

The Southampton Town Police Department is re-examining two years of drug cases initiated by the now-defunct street crimes unit, Newsday.com reports. Police Chief William Wilson, who had his one-year anniversary on the job this week, told Newsday that the street crimes unit lacked oversight. He did not speak in detail about the internal review, citing an ongoing investigation by the Suffolk County district attorney office's government corruption bureau, according to Newsday. Bureau detectives seized police documents from Southampton Town Hall on May 9, supoenaed by a grand jury in connection with a criminal action against a "John Doe." Crimes Nearby: Riverhead Man Arrested on Murder Charges

RIVERHEAD • Suffolk County homicide detectives arrested Guillermo Alfonso Alvarado-Ajcuc, age 21, of Riverhead for the alleged murder of Mirian Garcia, 29. Arrested on Wednesday, Alvarado-Ajcuc was charged with one count of murder in the second degree. He was held overnight at the Riverhead Police Department and will be arraigned Thursday at Riverhead Town Court. • Tomas Jonas Lopez-Giron, 35, of Riverhead was charged with second-degree attempted assault, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon on May 9 at 8:40 a.m., after police responded to a report of a dispute at an East Marion jobsite, police said. Former Police Captain: 'There's Nothing to Hide' in Records

According to a story on 27east, former Police Capt. Anthony Tenaglia said there was no wrongdoing in regards to confidential recordkeeping.

Former Southampton Town Police Capt. Anthony Tenaglia said "There's nothing to hide" from Suffolk County prosecutors who have seized boxes of confidential records from Town Hall, according to a story on 27east. Last Wednesday, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota's office subpoenad the Southampton town clerk's office for "Any and all records documents, files, folders, boxes, audio recordings, video records or other images transported on or about May 13, 2011" as well as logs of who accessed or possessed the records since that date.  Tenaglia, who was considered as a candidate for Southampton Town Police chief after the retirement of Chief James Overton last year — and was serving as acting chief on May 13, 2011  — retired in …

State Cops: Man Charged With DWI After Attempting to Leave Accident

Julio Parapi, age 32, of East Hampton was charged with DWI.

New York State Police are reporting that they charged an East Hampton man with DWI and various traffic violations after they say he tried to leave the scene of an accident on Sunrise Highway near the Flanders Road exit.  Police say Julio Parapi, 32, tried to drive off when officers stop him after they were flagged down by a motorist motorist involved in the crash. Police say Parapi "stumbled out of his car."  Parapi was held for arraignment in the Town of Southampton Court. 

Incident Reports: Man Threatens to Shoot Girl's Dog

Also among the week's police reports, a pool heater stolen out of a Westhampton driveway, and a Bridgehampton man reports another burglary of his home.

Crimes and suspicious incidents reported to the Southampton Town police from May 7 to May 13: Harassment • A Noyac man complained to police May 12 that a neighbor yelled at his daughter and threatened to shoot her dog because the dog is, according to the police report, doing damage on Ridge Drive. The girl and a friend were walking the dog at the time of the incident, police said. No arrests have been made. Police are monitoring the situation. Grand Larceny • A Westhampton man who lives on Sweet Grass Road reported to police May 12 that someone stole his pool heater that was stored in his driveway. UPDATE: Truck's Brakes Failed Before Plunging into Bay

Southampton Police say no one was injured.

According to Southampton Police, the brakes on a Ford pickup failed when the truck attempted to stop at the intersection of Lynn Avenue and Argonne Road East, leading to the truck plunging into the Shinnecock Bay on Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the "vehicle did not respond" at the stop sign, and proceeded to gain speed as it went down the hill to the end of Argonne Road, through a guard rail, through a bench, and into the bay. No one was injured in the incident, which occurred around 5 p.m. The Hampton Bays Fire Department Dive team was on the scene to help remove the truck from the water, police said.

Landscaping Truck Flips on Montauk Highway

Police report that no one was injured in the crash.

Southampton Town Police say emergency personel responded to a one car crash in which a landscaping truck filled with concreate blocks flipped over at the corner of Quogue Street and Montauk Highway in the Village of Quogue around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Police report that there were no injuries and road closures were not necessary. Responding to the scene was the Westhampton Beach War Memorial Ambulance and the Quogue and Westhampton Beach Fire Departments. Cops: Teen Charged With Felony Criminal Mischief

Bryce Danowski, 18, of Flanders was charged with the felony.

Southampton Town Police have reported that they charged an 18-year-old Flanders teen and with a felony count of criminal mischief. Police said the charge came after Bryce Danowski was caught breaking the front door of the United Artists Movie Theatre on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays. Police say that on Friday at 10:45 p.m., they were called when someone noticed that someone had broken the glass doors to the theatre.
