Tech Fair a Hit at Westhampton Free Library

Many Westhampton residents visited the Westhampton Free Library Technology Fair on Monday, July 21.  The fair introduced patrons to the latest technology available at the library, including hoopla, a streaming service for audiobooks, movies and music.  A major highlight of the fair was the demonstration of the newest technology rage: a 3-D printer.  The printer was on loan from the Suffolk County Library System.

Library staff not only gave presentations demonstrating how the new technology works, but worked with patrons one on one to show them how easy it is to utilize these library resources. “Technology is changing the way our patrons use the library.  The fair allowed us to showcase our new technology as well free streaming services and interactive educational databases like Mango Languages and Universal Class,” said Head of Reference Jay Janoski.

Other highlights included demonstrations about Zinio for online magazines viewable on your computer and smart devices, and Indieflix, which is your ticket to thousands of independent films including features, shorts, animation and foreign film.

“The Westhampton Free Library continues to meet the changing technological needs of our patrons without sacrificing the core services we provide.  I encourage all our residents to check out our library and see all that we have to offer.   I want to thank all the staff who organized and participated in the Tech Fair and the patrons who attended, “said Library Director Danielle Waskiewicz.
