More Westhampton Free Library Databases For You

As a Westhampton Free Library card holder you have access to a lot of verified information through our databases.  Don't let Google be your information resource.  Many sites on Google are not verified and the information you could be looking at may not be correct.

Below please read about some of our databases.  We will be highlighting more in future blogs.  Have a nice weekend and make sure you check out Westhampton Free Library soon either in person or online.

The New York Times Historical

With Proquest Historical Newspapers you can access the first issue of the New York Times published on September 18th 1851, through 2009, in its original form and keep your fingers free of newsprint! Use the simple keyword search or the more advanced search options that allow you to sort your results by date, title, document type, and tags and you can track down any article that has appeared in the Times since its first day. This database lets you save long term research projects for future reference, save files to external drives, share articles via email, and even create citations.

Suffolk Historic Newspapers

Take a fascinating look at our own local history with 12 local newpapers that had been previously only available on microfilm. View articles separately, or as they originally appeared on the full page. With some papers dating back to 1822 this is a great resource for genealogists and local history enthusiasts.

Long Island Memories

Long Island Memories or the LLIRC Digitization Program is a historical archive for researchers and local history buffs that provides access to a multitude of online documents on Long Island and New York State. The database also provides access to The Genealogy Foundation of Long Island website; a thirteen member organization of local genealogy groups that can provide assistance to anyone looking to trace their family history on the island. Users can even access video and audio of the archives monthly conferences.
