Hamptons Weekend Agenda: Summer Officially Arrives

Events this weekend include a garden landscape show, wellness benefit, art shows and more.

A welcome change of pace, no rain is expected this weekend! Not only that, but summer officially arrives with the summer solstice. So take a look here to see where you can go out and about this weekend, and for more events – because there are a bunch of other events going on as well – check out our calendars on East HamptonSouthampton, and Westhampton-Hampton Bays Patch.

MONTAUK

• Seaweed Walk: Join marine botanist, Dr. Larry Liddle, as he leads a tour at noon on Saturday with the Concerned Citizens of Montauk, identifying and giving information about different types of seaweed.

EAST HAMPTON

• Pottery Talk: Phid Lawless and Dan Farrenkopf of Maine-based artisan pottery studio Lunaform will be at Long House Reserve on Hands Creek Road Friday at 5 p.m. to hold a presentation entitled “Concrete Potters of Maine: The Art & Craft of Lunaform." A portion of all sales will benefit the Long House Reserve, a nonprofit.

• Garden ContestSaturday at the Long House Reserve, the sixth annual Planters: On + Off the Ground opens up starting at 4:30 p.m. The invitational will include reviews of landscape art, and will be on display through July 27.

• Garden TourHosted by and benefitting the Garden Conservancy, this self-guided tour of two private gardens kicks off at 10 a.m. and costs $5 per garden. 

• Wellness BenefitJoe Cross, star of the documentary "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead," will be the guest of honor at the Wellness Foundation's second annual benefit. Cost to attend is $150.

• RockshowFrom Wings' 'Wings Over America' tour, this never-before-released full-length concert is being released, with fully remastered audio and video. Guild Hall will be playing it on Saturday at 8 p.m.

BRIDGEHAMPTON

• Antique ShowThe annual Bridgehampton Antique Show will take place Saturday and Sunday at the Bridgehampton Historical Society, costing $5 per day to enter ($10 for early birds before 10 a.m.) and is expected to draw close to 100 exhibitors. 

• Artists Against AbuseThis fundraiser will benefit The Retreat. Held at The Ross School starting at 7 p.m., the theme of the 18th annual fundraiser will be the 1960s.

WATER MILL

• Subway MusicParish Art Museum is taking a bunch of talented "underground" musicians – literally, they are known for playing unique instruments in subways – and inviting them to perform Saturday throughout the museum starting at noon.

SOUTHAMPTON

• Get WildThis fundraiser, held at the home of news anchor Chuck Scarborough and his wife Ellen from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, will benefit the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons. Cost  is $300 to attent.

QUOGUE

• Festival of the ArtsTaking place Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., this event, free of charge for admission, will feature over 60 boutique artists from around the country selling their wares.

• Night HikeTake a hike at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge: Sunday at 8 p.m., the refuge will lead a nighttime walk to ring in the new season. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance. Cost is $5 for nonmembers.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH

• Summer Solstice CelebrationHamptons Yoga Healing Arts Center is ringing in the new season Friday at 7 p.m. on the beach. Were, exactly is limited to those who contact the group organizer to find out. Recent training graduates will be celebrated. This event is free.

• Benefit Yard SaleProceeds from this yard sale on Mill Road – held Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – will benefit HUGS, a nonprofit that serves youth countywide.

• Stand-up comedyRenowned comic Kathy Griffin will be at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday night starting at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $135.
