PHOTOS: 500 People Run the Over the Bridge for Lion's Club

The race over the Ponquogue Bridge grows this year.

The weather didn't look so promising for a road race, with overcast skies and the wind picking up at Warner's Park along Dune Road Saturday morning.

But by the time about 500 people were bussed from Hampton Bays Middle School to the starting line for the second-annual run, the 5K and 10K runners were off to traverese the Ponquogue Bridge in sunny skies and a nice ocean breeze to raise money for the Hampton Bays Lions Club.

With registration at $20 - $25 per person, the Lion's Club raised thousands for their charitable works and gave runners a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of the area — especially over the bridge.
