Kids Stock the House to Walk for Love

Donations for the event are still being accepted.

On Saturday, a group of students and junior firefighters from Hampton Bays will be walking with the non-profit group, Kids Stock the House of Southampton to raise money for the families of seriously ill children at the Ronald McDonald House at a walk at Eisenhower Park.

The students have been busy soliciting monetary donations online and to date, they have collected $9,432 toward their cause — $568 short of their goal.

According to Donna Oliverio, founder of Kids Stock the House, the students fundraising efforts have put them in second place of all those slated to participate in the walk.

A team from Walgreens is in first place.

Aside from hoping to reach their goal of raising $10,000, the Kids Stock the House team, headed by students Amanda Kenny of Hampton Bays and Tiffany Rigole of St. James, intend to inspire others to walk for their cause.

Both girls have taken tremendous strides to recruit walkers and raise money — Rigole, on her own, has raised $4,345 while Kenny convinced a bus-load of junior firefighters to join the cause.

Volunteers, the girls said, are welcome to walk or participate as a virtual walkers with a donation of $20 each and can register by clicking here.

Already signed up to walk with the team is Miss 2013 NY Tean USA Nikki Orlando, of Smithtown, who is competing in the Donald Trump Miss Teen USA pageant in the Bahamas in August, along with Miss Long Island 2013 Jessi Ricco and Miss Long Island Teen 2013 Lauren Doherty .

The walk kicks off at 9 a.m.
