View from the East End: Democrats May Implode Picking Their Next Presidential Candidate

There may be as many as 20 candidates running for president in 2016.

The spectacle of all those Republicans lead by Governor Romney debating every week was fodder for the main stream media for almost two years.

Well what goes around, comes around, because with no young dynamic heir apparent to Obama, the presidential selection process for the Democrats 2016 will look like the Republicans 2011-2012, but only worse.

Some Democrats will run as anti-Obama, some as to the left of Obama, and some to the right of the president's policies.

Just picture Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, Ed Shultz and the rest of the MSNBC crowd picking sides and all not being on the same page. I believe both Hillary Clinton and V.P. Joe Biden will not end up being the candidate.

In 2006, I never saw Obama coming, and still quite frankly cannot believe he won two terms. His slick, intelligent, well financed machine will soon breakup to pick sides, maybe as soon as the middle of next year to partake in the multi-billion dollar bonanza that is the Making of the President 2016.

Hillary Clintonites from 2008 remember being trashed by the Obama campaign that even accused Bill Clinton of playing the "race card," in South Carolina saying his comments in behalf of his wife's campaign were "racist."

I think this time things will get dicier, and the question remains will President Obama's huge unchecked ego play a role in picking his successor or will he do as George W. Bush (2008) did and sit out the primaries.

My guess is that there will be friction within the Democratic Party when campaigns and the White House start battling for daily message time in the media. Now the Republicans too will be hurling around the horse meat because they too will be in a food fight to pick a presidential candidate.

Now the kicker. Come the Iowa caucuses, among both parties, there may be as many as 20 presidential candidates all over Iowa, not counting the possibility of a third party candidate. So as Democratic pundits laugh about the disarray of the Republican Party post Romney's defeat, don't laugh too loud too long because a train wreck is coming your way soon.

Latinos, African-Americans, Women, Seniors, Vets, the Gay community, Independents, Asian-Americans, Wall Streeters, Organized Labor, the Youth Vote, and maybe those "White males" will all be picking different candidates from both parties and in the end I promise you it will get ugly. Money will be spent by people in each party to destroy opponents of their own party in the too many primaries.

Enjoy the glow of presidential politics for this year because very soon in the words of Bob Dylan, "a hard, hard rain a-gonna fall."

Don't kid yourself, the Democrats have plenty of time to try and repeal the 22nd amendment especially if they take the House in 2014 and hold onto the Senate and they are just evil and corrupt enough to try it.

Thanks for reading southampton patch.com but Preliator that's not happening. There are "folks' just waiting to be the candidate to seize the Presidency in both parties.
