Three swimmers caught in riptides over long weekend.

Lifeguards at in Westhampton and Pikes Beach in West Hampton Dunes logged three saves due to riptides over Memorial Day weekend.

According to Chris Bean, director of the Southampton Parks and Recreation Department, lifeguards plucked a six-year-old and a nine-year-old from the water at Southampton's Pikes Beach in West Hampton Dunes on Sunday.

"They got caught in a rip current," said Bean, noting that there were no injuries.

Molinaro said the woman was not injured and police were not called to the scene.

"We really would like to take this opportunity to remind beach patrons that it is extremely important to stay within the flags while swimming on our beaches," said Molinaro.

Last summer, area lifeguards logged over 150 saves; 15 at Rogers Beach; 126 at ; and 75 at Southampton town beaches.
