Beach Guide: Labor Day And Beyond

A look at open and closed beaches on the east end during and after Labor Day Weekend.

Labor Day Weekend polishes off the summer season, nowhere more so than in the Hamptons. Can’t believe it? Want to squeeze what’s left out of summer by hitting the beaches after Labor Day? Here’s a look at what’s happening to all the town and village beaches across the south fork.

Westhampton Village

  • Rogers Beach will stay open until 5 p.m. on September 8
  • Lashley Beach will close for the season at 5 p.m. on September 2, Labor Day.

Quogue Village

Village Beach will remain open after Labor Day for two extra weekends: September 7-8 and September 14-15. Lifeguards will be on duty on those weekend dates until 6 p.m. Village Beach is only open to Quogue Village residents. Day passes are not available.

Southampton Town

All Southampton Town beaches are open on Labor Day. The lifeguards will climb down for the last time this season at around 5 p.m. The parking booths will also vacate at 5 p.m. and parking will no longer require a fee beginning Tuesday, September 3. Southampton Town beaches include:

  • Flying Point Beach
  • Foster Memorial (Long Beach)
  • Pikes Beach
  • Mecox Beach
  • Ponquogue Beach Pavilion
  • Sagg Main Beach
  • Tiana Beach Pavilion
  • W. Scott Cameron Beach Pavilion
  • Sand Bar Beach
  • Triton Beach (Hot Dog Beach)
  • Tiana Beach Activity Center

Southampton Village

Southampton Village beaches will be closing after Labor Day. There will be no lifeguards on duty after 5 p.m on Monday. Village beaches include:

  • Fowler
  • Old Town
  • Wyandanch
  • Little Plains
  • Gin Lane
  • Cryder
  • Coopers Beach
  • Halsey Neck Lane
  • Road D
  • Dune Beach (village residents only)
  • Road G
East Hampton Town

Ocean beaches Indian Wells, South Edison, Atlantic Avenue, Kirk Park and Ditch Plains will be open through Labor Day. Bay beaches East Lake and Albert’s Landing will be open as well. Maidstone Park is closed for the season. Ocean beaches will have lifeguards from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The bay beaches will have lifeguards from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

After Labor Day, Indian Wells, South Edison, Atlantic Avenue and Ditch Plains (ocean beaches) will all be open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, as well as the weekend of September 7-8. Those beaches will be open again on September 14-15. Kirk Park ocean beach will be closed and all the bays will be closed after Labor Day. Town beaches include:

  • Little Albert’s Landing Beach
  • Lazy Point
  • Culloden Point
  • Ditch Plains Beach

  • Kirk Park Beach
  • South Lake Beach
  • West Lake Drive
  • Alewive Brook Landing
  • Mile Hill
  • Old House Landing Road
  • Sammy’s Beach
  • Beach Lane
  • Town Line
  • Gerard Drive Park
  • Maidstone Park (closed)
  • Louse Point
  • Flaggy Hole

East Hampton Village

The village’s three beaches in which there are lifeguards on duty, Georgica, Main and Two Mile Hollow, will remain open on weekends after Labor Day until September 30. The lifeguards are on duty at those beaches from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. The East Hampton Village Beaches are:

  • Georgica Beach
  • Main Beach
  • Wiborg Beach (no lifeguards ever on duty)
  • Egypt Beach (no lifeguards ever on duty)
  • Two Mile Hollow Beach
