CREATION, COLLABORATION, INNOVATION: 3D PRINTING

The Suffolk Cooperative Library System and the Suffolk County Public Libraries have collaborated in developing a special program that focuses on introducing 3D technology to their patrons. This exciting event will take place throughout the entire year of 2014.

The program includes two Makerbot Replicator2 3D printers, along with Makerbot Digitizers which will be visiting the Suffolk County Public Libraries for two-week loan periods. During this time library Staff will be able to demonstrate the print process to their patrons. 3D printing is now changing not only the face, but the pace of manufacturing, academics and design. Although it is in its infancy, it currently seems to be having a profound impact on our society and there is still so much more to come.

Call your Local Public Library to discover when the 3D printer and digitizer will be visiting. We are encouraging the public to drop into any of our libraries to see this amazing technology in action. Questions and comments are encouraged and invited. Please visit: http://www.sclsmap.info/ for contact information about your local public library.
