SUFFOLK COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARIES PROVIDE SHELTER, POWER AND RESOURCES IN SANDY’S AFTERMATH
Harborfields Public Library provides relief after Hurricane Sandy.
As the center of their communities, Suffolk County Public Libraries provide a place for warmth, entertainment, camaraderie, entertainment and access to computers and wireless for locals in the wake of Hurricane Sandy’s destruction. Many local libraries are going the extra mile to help residents in this difficult time.
Since October 29 many Suffolk residents have been without power. Local libraries offer essential services to their patrons in emergencies, providing more than just a heated and well lit public spot. The Harborfields Public Library which serves Centerport and Greenlawn residents made a temporary Wifi access point available, as well as chairs and surge protectors. More than 200 patrons braved the cold and used the "Outdoor Library". Carts of free books were available for all patrons.
Your local library is a valuable source for helping you get through the inconvenience of Hurricane Sandy. Please stop by and take advantage of its resources, including asking a librarian any questions you may have about how the library can assist you during Sandy's aftermath.
