Suffolk County Library Association Donates to Help Fire Victims

The Suffolk County Library Association Donated books and goods to help the victims of the February 8 fire.

The Suffolk County Library Association donated tote bags, books, black plastic bags, games, crayons, toys and periodicals to the American Red Cross shelter at the  Kennedy Memorial Park Center in Hempstead to help the survivors of a fire that ripped through a Hempstead apartment building during the Saturday, February 8 blizzard.  Residents used the tote bags to transport their belongings including clothes, blankets, towels and personal items.  The black plastic bags were used to grab wet and frozen belongings back to the shelter. Periodicals, puzzle books and coloring books donated by the Brentwood Library kept everyone at the shelter busy.  Many residents mentioned how generous the SCLA's donation of new books and Harry Potter bags was.
