About the World's First Supermodel: Documentary on Antonio Corsi

Help an award-winning director make a documentary about model Antonio Corsi.

"I prefer to act my parts on a painter's platform.  The actor dies and is forgotten.  I live for hundreds of years — maybe thousands — in the famous paintings in which I appear." - Antonio Corsi, 1912

Antonio Corsi was the world’s first supermodel. His face and body are familiar from countless works of art.

Director Jake Gorst, who recently completed the beautiful architectural documentary “” featuring houses in the Hamptons, is working on a new film about Antonio Corsi.

Per Kickstarter: Corsi's face and figure was painted, sketched and sculpted by artists such as John Singer Sargent, Edward Burne-Jones, Pierre Auguste Cot and James Earle Fraser.  There are statues and reliefs of Corsi found in New York's Battery Park, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and St. Paul's Cathedral in London.

Gorst will tell the story of Corsi's life from gypsy boy to silent movie star and famous artist's model, how he overcame prejudice and befriended royalty before losing his fame and wealth. He died of consumption (tuberculosis) in 1924.

Gorst has set up a fundraising initiative through Kickstarter for this film production:
