Westhampton Beach Students Win Big With Business Plan

The students created a virtual, eco-friendly business.

Eight students from Amy Demchak-Connell’s virtual enterprises class at Westhampton Beach High School recently placed first at the annual Briarcliffe College Long Island High School Business Plan Competition.

The team of students – Alex Camacho, Ashley Cunniff, Freesia Ferrantino, Jack Fink, Justin Grieco, Tashin Korur, Frank Leotta and Sisi Sandager Schou – won with the business plan for creating a business plan for a business they called, "Helios, Inc."

Their company, according to the school district, is a virtual, eco-friendly business that aims to keep their customers connected by offering products, including a bicycle-powered phone charger, a solar-powered charging backpack, and a device the group named “Signal +,” which allows consumers to plug into their mobile device and extend the signal through the power of satellite technology.
