Westhampton Beach High School made the cut — it was recently ranked 407th out of 1,900 high schools nationally in a report put out by the Washington Post.

The report also ranked the district, 51st in the Northeast; 34th in New York State and 4th in Suffolk County.

To formulate the rankings, the Post said it " takes the total number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year and divides those numbers by the number of seniors who graduated in May or June."

In 2013, the district moved up in the ranking — in 2012, it was ranked 466th nationally and in 2011, 505th.

The Westhampton Beach School District was also noted in a report released by the New York U.S. News and World Report high school rankings.

U.S. News and World Report said its rankings are determined by college readiness, math and English proficiency and student-to-teacher ratio.

New York State Regents test scores determine proficiency in English and math, according to the publication. Westhampton Beach High School is 3.5 percent proficient in Math and 3.6 percent proficient in English, the report states.

A school’s college readiness index is based on AP and IB exam participation rates and percentages of students passing at least one exam. The index also determines which medals will be awarded to the top scoring schools.

This year, Westhampton Beach came in with an index of 43.9 percent. For its student to teacher ratio, Westhampton Beach is recorded as having an average of 12 students to every one full-time teacher. There are an average of 989 students in the school and 81 teachers.
