Superintendent: Snow Days Will Be Used to Make Up Days Lost to Sandy

If school must be cancelled due to snow, days scheduled for Spring Break will be used.

While , are using Spring Break vacation days to make up school days lost during Hurricane Sandy, the Westhampton Beach School District said it intends to keep those days intact.

In a letter sent home with students, Superintendent Mike Radday notified parents that the district intends to use scheduled snow days to make up for the 4 days that were lost as a result of the storm, if the State of New York does not grant relief from its 180-school day requirement.

However, Radday warned that if the snow days are needed this winter, the district will be forced to dig into spring break vacation days, starting with Monday, March 25.

Radday did note that it is possible that the State of New York will grant relief, but he said he believes it is unlikely they will do so without districts first using scheduled holiday breaks.
