Students Look To Raise Money For Heart Research

Westhampton Beach students Haley Schoeck and Casey Fuchs hope that a school dance will raise enough money to fund a clinical research grant.

Last year, as juniors, Westhampton Beach students Haley Schoeck and Casey Fuchs raised $23,500 for the American Heart Association by organizing a ball, called Have a Heart. They raised another $75,000 over the summer.

The students, who both lost their fathers to heart disease, said they wanted to give something back and they were lauded for their efforts by the American Heart Association and the Westhampton Beach School Board.

They decided that they still have more to do and are once again organizing a ball in which they hope to raise even more money for a clinical research grant at Stony Brook University Hospital in their fathers' names.

Fuchs and Schoeck are also looking to raise money through ball sponsorships; $1,000 for a Platinum Sponsorship, $500 for an Emerald Sponsorship, and $250 for Gold Sponsorship. Other monetary donations are also welcomed.

Checks can be made out to the American Heart Association and mailed to Casey Fuchs PO Box 1061 Remsenburg, NY 11960.
