Students in the News: 2 Lacrosse Players Receive Scholarships

A look at the achievements of area students.

Students from Westhampton Beach have been busy. Here is a look at a few things that they have been up to.

Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Westhampton Beach High School seniors Brian Corrigan and Casey Hickey have been recruited to play lacrosse at Marist College in Poughkeepsie. On Nov. 26, the pair signed their letters of intent and each will receive scholarships while playing for the Marist College Red Foxes lacrosse team.

According to high school principal Chris Herr, this is the second consecutive year in which members of the lacrosse team have been offered athletic scholarships.

“Our lacrosse program has really grown over the last few years,” he said. “Hopefully this marks a new tradition for student-athletes.”

Turkey Bowl Tradition at Westhampton Beach

On Nov. 20, eighth grade Westhampton Beach students participated in the 11th annual Turkey Bowl, a good-natured football face-off between the students and members of the middle school's faculty and staff. As they have in the past, the faculty won the game, which ended with a score of 42-28.

P. Killian, Thanks for asking. We just reached out to State police. They are doing seatbelt checks.
