School Administrators Offer Back to School Tips

School officials say get your kids reading and back into a routine.

With the days of summer coming to an end and the start of school arriving in just a few weeks, Westhampton-Hampton Bays Patch_ reached out to three area school administrators for advice on how to get your kids ready for classroom learning.

The following is what they had to say:

  • Begin to ease children back into their school year schedule and routines.
  • Help get children excited about returning to school.
  • Encourage them to read - and for older students ensure that any summer assignments are completed.
  • Talk to your children about school and set a positive tone for the new year.
  • Set goals and review expectations with children.
  • Share information about your child with the teacher.
  • Call the school principal or guidance counselor with any questions or concerns.

  • Join the summer reading program
  • The has free museum passes that you can check out like a book. It's amazing what is free at the library.

  • Start talking to kids about going back to school.
  • Get them back into having a routine and schedule
  • Ease any fears they may have
  • Call the school with any concerns you or your child may have
