In 2011, the Quogue PTA banned together with a mission to improve the playground, which had become run-down and outdated. Their efforts have resulted in the construction of a new play structure, climbing boulder and ball toss. The PTA also recently installed a 20-foot gazebo and new wood fiber mulch that serves as a surface for the playground.
The PTA and school district celebrated their efforts recently when Suffolk County Legislator Jay Schneiderman presented a check for a $2,000 to the PTA that will be used to pay for the fiber mulch.
The check was garnered, according to the PTA, as part of a the Suffolk County Legislature's Community Support initiative program.
