Photo of the Day: Gershow Donates Scrap to Westhampton Beach Robotics Team

The team will use the scrap Gershow Recycling Donates Aluminum Scrap to Westhampton Beach Robotics Team.

With a goal to build a 130-pound robot in the next several weeks, members of the Westhampton Beach Robotics team recently took advantage of a donation of scrap offered up by Gershow Recycling of Medford.

According to Gershow, which has eight locations, the students visited their Medford site on Jan. 19, picking up aluminum scrap to use to build their robot.

The Westhampton Beach Robotics team plans to compete with their robot in the upcoming Long Island For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology competition, "a national program that challenges teams of students and their mentors to design and build a 130 pound robot in a six-week timeframe using a standard kit of parts and a common set of rules."

P. Killian, Thanks for asking. We just reached out to State police. They are doing seatbelt checks.
