Hampton Bays Students Honor Merchant Mariner

A flag was raised in Marvin "John" Siebold's honor on Friday.

The Hampton Bays School District continued its mission of taking history out of text books by honoring local veterans on Oct. 18  by paying tribute to Marvin "John" Siebold, a merchant mariner.

During a ceremony at Hampton Bays High School students told Siebold life and his bravery in service and raised a flag in his honor.

Siebold is a 60 year resident of Hampton Bays, raising 6 children with his late wife, Janette, in the hamlet where he is a avid surf fisherman and usher at St. Rosalie’s Church.
