Hampton Bays Student Out Voted on MSG’s Varsity Talent Show

Elizabeth Lowry says she is disappointed, but had a great experience.

On Thursday, Hampton Bays middle school student learned that she did not garner the votes necessary to move to the next round in MSG’s Varsity Talent show, which airs on Cablevision’s iO Channel 14 on Sundays at 6 p.m.

, who made it the semi-finals, said she was disappointed that she lost to Commack’s Samm Sclafani and Kellenburg’s Trish Torrales for a spot in the finals, but said, “I am very happy for Trish and for the opportunity to have participated in the show.”

Lowry added, “The whole thing was a great experience and I made some great new friends.”

Lowry, who was selected for the contest along with 32 other singers, dancers and musical groups from the tri-state area earlier this month, said that the vote would not discourage her.

“I plan to continue singing whenever and wherever I can. It’s something I love to do,” she said.

Lowry said she also intends to enter more singing contests, including Summer Idol 2011 with the SSLI/Music Idol Group.

“I will also continue voice lessons and school choirs. All I want to do is sing,” she said.

Still in the running in MGS’s Varsity’s Talent show is Sclafani and Kellenburg for the female vocalist spot; male vocalists Elya Vasiliev of Colts Neck, New Jersey, and Peter Richardson of Oceanside; Vocal Ensemble groups, Kaleidoscope of Cedar Grove New Jersey and the Holy Trinity Select Choir; and dance groups from Clarkstown North High School and Piscataway High School in New Jersey.
