Hampton Bays Schools Recognizes Students of the Month

Among the students honored were fourth-grader Emily Meyer, fifth-grader Emel Barry and junior Mackenzie Engeldrum.

The Hampton Bays School board honored its students of the month for September at a board meeting, held earlier this month.

Among the students honored were fourth-grader Emily Meyer, fifth-grader Emel Barry and junior Mackenzie Engeldrum.

Each were given a plaque and words of commendation from their respective principals.

According to the school district Meyer, who recently transferred to Hampton Bays from Riverhead was selected for her friendly nature and outgoing personality, as well as her academics.

Barry, said the school district, was nominated by her teacher, Jamie Huebner because she always tries her best and is a true leader.

Engeldrum, meanwhile, was nominated by her music teacher, Jennifer Halsey for not only earning a spot on the All-State Women's Chorus, but for also being a leader in the classroom, excelling at AP history and physics and participating in the research and science program.
