Hampton Bays Girl Advances To New York State Hoop Shoot Finals

Riley Tupper will compete this weekend Syracuse.

Riley Tupper of Hampton Bays has advanced to the New York State Finals in the Elk's Club's annual Hoop shoot, which will be held in Syracuse this weekend.

Tupper, who competes in the girls 10-11 year old age group, won the spot at the finals over the weekend, competing in the semi-finals, where she shot 17 out of 25 hoops.

This will be Tupper's second time going to the states. Two years ago, she made to the nationals as an 8-year-old, representing New York in her age group. She finished 7th in the US.

Also making it to the semi-finals was Anna Rose Dean, also of Hampton Bays. Dean, who competed in the girls 12-13 year old age group, came in second place.

Both girls have been competing over the past couple of weeks to move up in the free-throw competition that is held annually for boys and girls ages 8-13. Millions of youngsters participate in the "Hoop Shoot" from all 50 states.
