Giants Top At East Quogue Elementary School

A food drive shows Giants have more fans in East Quogue.

With the Super Bowl looming, East Quogue second grade elementary school teacher Lauren Squires thought it would be fun to couple a food drive with a fan contest.

This week, her class set up two non-perishable food collections boxes, one marked Giants and the other, Patriots.  Students were encouraged to donate foods and place them in the team's box that they are rooting for.

So far, East Quogue Elementary School Principal Robert Long said, the Giants are winning.

"That box is almost full," he said.

According to Long, all of the items collected will be donated to a local food pantry.
