Former School Board Pres Alleges Election Misdeeds

Aram Terchunian has filed a complaint alleging that the Westhampton Beach Teachers Association illegally placed flyers in teacher mailboxes the day before this spring's school elections.

A former Westhampton Beach School District Board of Education president is alleging that illegal electioneering took place on school grounds during this spring's school board race, according to an article on 27East.

Aram Terchunian, the article states, has alleged that flyers endorsing Joyce Donneson - who lost a bid for a school board seat - were placed in teacher mailboxes by the teachers' union, Westhampton Beach Teachers Association, the day before the May 15 election.

The board of education is reportedly investigating the matter.

“There is no specific policy that would directly prohibit the use of mailboxes,” Superintendent Michael Radday told 27East. “But the district does not condone any advocacy activity that would even hint at impropriety regarding the School Board and budget elections.”
