Come on...You Know You Want To....

**Warning*** This is not for kids to read-Heck, I am not even sure Erica will post it :).

I love books, and I love controversy,  so naturally I was drawn to the Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy. I had to know what all the fuss was about, I mean, really people, the Erotica genre is not a new thing.  I heard all the buzz; "mommy porn," porn, smut, horrible writing, bondage, the list is endless.  There are three reasons to read this book: Christian Grey, Christian Grey & Christian Grey!

I took personal offense to the "mommy porn" description for obvious reasons, and decided to get to the nitty gritty.  I found the books phenomenol.  It is, at its core, a love story.  A story about love, evolving relationships, and compromise.  Yes, it is very, very graphic and goes into very taboo topics.  I feel that generally in the US we are taught from a very young age to look at our bodies and at sex as a dirty, shameful, and awful things.  I also am of the opinion that most couples do not talk about and have sex enough (could that be the cause of the high divorce rate? Could E L James solve the issue of divorce:))? It is my hope that these books get couples talking!  If I won lotto-every woman I know would have copies delivered to their doors.  The trilogy begins with a proposition and contract and ends with a very different proposition and contract.  It was pure joy to read how these two characters evolved and grew together.  To me that is what relationships are about.  These books have therapists up in arms, book reviewers rethinking their careers and movie companies drooling to script this book to film.  It is NOT porn, I have read porn, porn has no plot, no story, no character delevopment, it is just sex.  I believe that also goes for the Erotica genre, they just found a nicer word for it. As for the rough writing, well, in the words of the author E L James,  " I am not a great writer".  She makes no appologies and I am so glad that she doesn't.
