Voters also reelected village justice Gus Kelly with 262 votes.

Of the vote, DiBenedetto said, "I think the community has spoken.  They said who they want to represent them. They came out to vote even though the weather was terrible.  I look forward to doing a great job."

Tucker said, "I am looking forward to continuing to work to maintain the character of the village and keep our course in the coming, days, weeks and years."

Tucker also thanked outgoing village board member Joan Levan, who opted not to run for reelection.  He said, "She has given a lot to the community. She is going to be missed by the residents and the village."

On his blog, Speir wrote of the results, "No arguments here. The people had their say...I hope that they were all legal voters." And in an e-mail statement to Patch, he wrote, "I am, it would seem, unelectable, even with the solid support of the three victorious incumbents of a year ago, and a strong endorsement by the local paper (Southampton Press). Vox populi."
