Village of Quogue Budget Approved

Slight changes made from proposed budget.

On Wednesday, the adopted a $7.2 million budget that calls for a 2.6 percent increase in spending.

The budget was adopted, according to village officials, with only minor changes from the proposed budget, which was presented in March.

Changes, said officials, included adjustments to the village’s gas budget line.

The budget was adopted with little to no comment from the public; only reporters and village trustees were in attendance at an April 6 public hearing.

According to Quogue Village Mayor Peter Sartorius, budget increases accounted for contractual salaries and health insurance costs, as well as a decrease in property taxes.

For the average homeowner, the budget equates to a 3.1 percent increase in the tax rate or in dollars, $1.8775 per $1,000 in assessed home value.
