Special Counsel Appointed by Westhampton Beach Village Board

Richard Haefeli to represent the Village Planning Board in JRC Land Lawsuit.

In what has to be the Village Board of Trustees most expeditious monthly meeting, it approved all nineteen resolutions on the agenda and adjourned in fifteen minutes on Thursday evening. During that short meeting, Richard Haefeli was appointed as Special Counsel to represent the Planning Board of the Village of Westhampton Beach regarding a law suit that JRC Land Company, LLC has filed against them for a site plan they approved.

Several other resolutions were approved sanctioning the use of village properties for upcoming events. On Friday, June 15th the Westhampton Beach Elementary School will enjoy 5th Grade Beach Day at Rogers Beach. The Marine Meadows Program and Workshop sponsored by The Southampton Town Trustees and Cornell Cooperative Extension will be held at the Village Green on Saturday, June 16th. 

On Friday, September 7, 2012, Seafield Center will celebrate Annual Wellness Day at the Rogers Beach Pavilion  And the 2012 Oyster Festival sponsored by the Kiwanis Club will be held at the Village Marina on Saturday, October 6, 2012.

In restaurant news, the Board renewed Jonesey's Restaurant's Outdoor Dining Permit for seven tables and fourteen chairs "since there were no incidents or reports filed with the Police Department concerning said use." And Big City Burger, 85 Montauk Highway, Westhampton Beach, has applied for their first Outdoor Dining Permit. A public hearing regarding the matter will be held on June 18, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Village Hall in Westhampton Beach.

The Board also approved filing of a grant application for hazardous tree removal and tree replacement projects with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. And they will appoint the firm of Satty, Levine and Ciacco to audit the village's financial statements for the 2011-12 fiscal year for $19,500 and the Village Justice Court's for $3750.

Fire inspection and electrical services agreements with Southampton Town and fuel purchases for village-owned vehicles from Suffolk County were also approved.
