Southampton Looks to Buy Neptunes

A public hearing on the purchase is set for Oct. 8.

The Town of Southampton is considering a purchase of Neptune's Beach Club, a popular party spot since the 1960s.

According to a town resolution, the town will hold a public hearing on the possible purchase on Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. at town hall.

Neptunes Beach Club, which sits on 2.78 on Dune Road in Hampton Bays, would be purchased, according to the town, as open space as part of the town's community Preservation plan.

The property is a target, the town stated, because the owner is willing to sell and the land sits within the Shinnecock Bay Target Preservation Area.

A price for the purchase has not been made public.
