Southampton Leaf Pickup Begins November 25

Southampton Town Highway Department to pick up bagged leaves curbside.

The Southampton Town Highway Department's fall clean-up program gets underway on November 25, when highway workers will begin picking up leaves in biodegradable paper bags.

Loose leaves, leaves in plastic bags and brush will not be accepted and the town asks that no bags be put at the curb until after Nov. 1

The town's fall cleanup program does not apply to incorporated villages, including Southampton, Sagaponack, Sag Harbor, North Haven, Quogue or Westhampton Beach.

Town residents may self-haul leaves for free year round to the North Sea, Hampton Bays and Westhampton transfer stations. Brush can be dropped for free during an amnesty period of Nov. 15 to Dec. 31, 2013.

Senior citizens, 73 years old or older, may request that loose leaves be collected, but must pre-register by calling 631-728-3605.
