Slow Down: Speed Limit Change on Village Roads

The measure was approved on Wednesday night.

With no comment from the public, Village of Westhampton Beach trustees approved a resolution to lower the speed limit on four village roads — Rogers Avenue, Rogers Avenue Ext., Hazelwood Avenue and Bridle Path.

The speed limit on the roadways is now 25 miles per hour.

The change from 30 miles an hour to 25 miles an hour, according to Rebecca Molinaro, village clerk, came after several village residents requested that the speed limit be lowered because too many motorists were speeding.

Police placed a speed trailer at the location and found that drivers were actually going the speed limit more often than not.

However, to slow traffic, trustees opted to lower the limit by 5 miles and hour.
