On Thursday, Southampton Supervisor Anna-Throne Holst announced that the town is exploring other options when it comes to a possible purchase of Dune Road's Neptune's Night Club.

She said at a public hearing that both Chamber of Commerce leaders and restaurants owners have expressed interest in creating an establishment at Neptune's, similar to East Quogue's Dockers and Oaklands in Hampton Bays.

More detail she said would be available on Dec. 10 when the town holds a continuation of the hearing on the possible purchase at 6 p.m.

Westhampton-Hampton Bays Patch readers had a lot to say on the plan. The following is a round-up of their comments.  Feel free to add to the conversation by posting your thoughts in the comment section below.

  • leslieUse it for the COAST GUARD and extra station
  • Ralebird It WAS a Coast Guard Station. It NEEDS to be kept a viable business.
  • cbgA good Restaurant would be an excellent idea. NOT another Burger joint, but a good restaurant.
  • Amy Beth Stern A restaurant sounds like a good idea. It is a great piece of real estate that could add to the draw to Hampton Bays.
  • Cecelia Collins Sheridan Preserve the land but let a beach club/restaurant open to the public lease the building.....we need to keep some local flavor in the town and have a place where visitors from out of town feel welcome on the beaches!
