Public Hearing on Quogue Budget Quiet

Only reporters and village trustees in attendance.

A hearing on the Quogue Village budget lasted no more than five minutes on Wednesday afternoon with only trustees and reporters in attendance.

As presented at the trustee's meeting on April 6, Mayor Peter Sartorius’ 2011-2012 tentative $7.2 million budget calls for a 2.6 percent or $186,000 increase in spending.

The budget hike, said Sartorius, accounts for increases to contractual salaries and health insurance costs, as well as a decrease in property taxes.
