Fishermen Can Now Drive on Beach in Village

Permits are available at the Southampton Town Trustees office.

The Village of Westhampton Beach is now allowing fishermen to drive on the beach during the fall fishing season.

According to Elizabeth Lindtvit, village clerk, fishermen can gain access to the ocean at Lashley Beach using a dune access road that sits next to the beach entrance.

Fisherman can use the access, said Lindtvit, through December 15, provided they have a Town of Southampton Beach Access permit, which can be obtained from the Southampton Town Trustees office.

The village agreed to offer the access on a trial basis only, said Lindtvit.
