Fall Leaf Program, Sandy Debris Cleanup to Be Combined

Pickup begins Nov. 19 in Southampton Town.

Curbside pickup of yard debris from Superstorm Sandy is being consolidated with Southampton Town's annual fall leaf pickup program, beginning on Nov. 19.

The program applies to all streets in the town outside of the incorporated villages.

Leaves, brush, branches and trees do not need to piled separately. Bags are not required. Those who do bag their leaves must use paper, not plastic.

Each road will only be visited once, so residents are urged to place their debris at the curb before Nov. 19.

There are six highway districts, and pickup in each district will begin on the first day of the program:

DISTRICT ONE covers Eastport east to Quiogue. This district will be starting in Quiogue working their way west to Eastport. This district also includes the “Wildlife 1” subdivision.
DISTRICT TWO covers East Quogue, east to West Tiana Road and Flanders, north to Riverside at CR 104. This district will be starting in the Northampton/Wildwood Lake area, than they will complete Riverside and Flanders before moving into East Quogue.
DISTRICT THREE covers Hampton Bays, from East Tiana Road to the west side of the canal. This district will start on the north side of Montauk Highway on Red Creek Road heading south. After completing all of the north side of Montauk Highway, they will move to the south side and complete all the roads west of Ponquogue Avenue before moving east of Ponquogue Avenue.
DISTRICT FOUR covers Shinnecock Hills from the canal east up to Head of Pond Road at the intersection with Deerfield in Water Mill. This district will start in Shinnecock Hills by the Lobster Inn working down North Highway heading towards the canal. They will then head down Montauk Highway heading east toward the Tuckahoe area before moving into North Sea and ending on Head of Pond Road, north of Deerfield Road.
DISTRICT FIVE covers Noyac Road from Majors Path east to the Sag Harbor village line, including Mt. Misery. It also covers Sagg Road to the wooden bridge. This district will start in the most eastern section of their district in the Mt. Misery/Sagg Road area working west.
DISTRICT SIX covers the entire south side of Water Mill to Sagaponack and the north side of Water Mill from Deerfield Road east to Sagaponack. They will start on Deerfield Road, on the north side of Montauk Highway in Water Mill and stay north of Montauk Highway through Bridgehampton into Sagaponack before moving south of Montauk Highway heading west from Sagaponack into Water Mill

The Hampton Bays and North Sea transfer stations will be open on Sunday, Veterans Day, to accommodate residents wishing to haul storm-related brush themselves. As of Thursday, residents are again required to bag household garbage in town-issue green bags if they wish to drop off garbage at town transfer stations. However, storm-related yard waste will continue to be accepted for free through Nov. 17
