Jon Semlear is an 18-year member of the Southampton Trustees and is seeking re-election on the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Working Families lines.
Semlear, 51, has been a bayman, operating pound nets in Peconic Bay, since graduating college. He studied marine affairs and coastal zone management at the University of Rhode Island and holds a degree from Southampton College in environmental studies.

Semlear in his own words:
I have a life-long passion for Southampton Town waters and have been a trustee for 18 years. My education is conducive to the job and I am a working bayman, spending seven days a week on the bay. My years on the board have given me an opportunity to make a lot of contacts and establish valuable working relationships with government agencies. I think that enables me to do an efficient job as a trustee and I love doing it.
