Bio: Fred Thiele has served as a state assemblyman for the past 17 years. Prior joining the Assembly, he served as a 16th district Suffolk legislator for four years, winning the seat in 1987. He then moved on to serve as the supervisor of the Town of Southampton before running for the state assembly.

Education: Thiele graduated from Long Island University's Southampton College of in 1976 with a B.A. in political science and history, and received his law degree from Albany Law School in 1979.

District: 2nd Assembly District, which includes East Hampton, Southampton and a southeastern section of Brookhaven.

Candidate Statement:

Thiele said he is running for his ninth term on his accomplishments, which he said include helping to eliminate the MTA tax, ensuring that Stony Brook Southampton is operational, reducing taxes and creating an improved business climate.
